Blogger Archive Calendar
UPDATE - Sep 23, 2008 - Due to a change in the way Blogger does its feeds, folks who have previously installed this may find the links underneath the calendar not working correctly. I've made changes and updated the scripts to fix that (and hopefully guard against future problems) but if you have already installed the calendar check out this post on what to do for the quick update. Everyone else can just follow the instructions as is.
I had built an archive calendar for New Blogger and had it mostly finished around the end of January and put it up here soon after. I always intended to polish it off, and put up the instructions but I kind of got a little lazy on that. I've had more than one person commenting on it the last few weeks, so here it is. Finally. I think I have pretty much tested it out, so it should work ok (although who knows). Personally I have tested it in Firefox, Opera 9 and IE7, so it at least works in those browsers. An old version worked in IE6, so I assume this one does as well (if someone can verify that it would be nice). Safari, Konqueror etc, well you guys will just have to let me know (Not that I'll do anything about it, just nice to know).
As per my usual, the setup page is offsite at my googlepage. If you run into issues with the instructions or the script than let me know. Caveats : This is for New Blogger and Layouts templates only. Classic Templates aren't supported (at least not yet). FTP blogs can't use it. Private blogs can't use it. Also, the JSON calls I use are throttled at 100 entries each, and I didn't think it was worthwhile to check for more. So if you blog more than 100 posts in a month, this isn't for you.
Is the main page, with supplemental ones for styles, and configuration options.

I think most of the code is my fault, I took a few things from a few sources, but only small parts. I looked for a calendar already made that I could jump into, but the ones I found I couldn't figure out, so I did it meself. Had a starting off point from a calendar widget in NVU, but that was really just the base structure. Also want to shout out to the Strange Zen of Javascript for providing the simple but brilliant solution to a problem I was having with Firefox/IE and the way they handle hidden table rows, Table rows...revealed!. Of course when I went there, I found they are starting their own how to build a calendar series...
As I was finishing this up today, I just happened by PurpleMoggy's blog. From his comments, it seems he saw mine up, but without any instructions was inspired to come up with his own. And a nice job he did. Purple Moggy's Calendar. Very slick..uses the yahoo calendar control as it's base (wish I had seen that before rolling my own). So anyone may want to check his out before making a decision on which one to use. Definitely PurpleMoggy writes cleaner code than I do, he must know what he is doing. :-)
Also calendar fans might want to check out the original Old Blogger archive calendar, which isn't so much a calendar script as a navigation device for archive pages really. But it was a start. And of course there is the excellent one started for Old Blogger by ecmanaut, Adding calendar navigation to your Blogger template which is absolutely the best you could do on Old Blogger without JSON feeds.

Notes
I'm still not really convinced that a calendar is a great navigational device. But people like the bling. When New Blogger announced their JSON feeds, one of the first things I thought was someone will use it to make an ajax-ish calendar. I waited for someone else to do it, but no one had. So I took a stab. Of course, while the results are ok, the underlying code is ugly as hell (a by-product of my not knowing what I do). But it seems to work. The calendar basically works off targeted JSON calls, using the published-min/published-max query options to get just the posts from a specific month. When the calendar is drawn out, the post titles are listed neatly underneath and the days with entries on them are linked. The linked days in the calendar itself also use targeted calls to the Blogger search page (so it can show all the posts if more than 1 are made on a single day). For some reason, on the blog search the parameters are updated-min/updated-max rather than the published. But it all works out.I think most of the code is my fault, I took a few things from a few sources, but only small parts. I looked for a calendar already made that I could jump into, but the ones I found I couldn't figure out, so I did it meself. «Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 201 Newer› Newest»I've been eyeing it for quite a while now, but never really got around to understanding it.
Make no hanka hanka's about it. This is really good work, and comparing it to previous attempts by people, I think is the simplest and most effective way of doing this.
Ofcourse, as you've mentioned, the code can be cleaned up, but why fix something which is not broken? :)
Fabulous work! Keep it up!
Hello.
It seems really nice hack (smile). Well, I followed your instruction, but I faced a problem. After checking it by myself on my test blog, it's a sort of timeOffset problem. When I set it to "-08" as an example you gave, a fancy calendar poped out, and worked fine. But, when I set it to "+09" - it's my real time zone, it didn't work fine. For the more info., you can find it my test blog : nhk-beta.blogspot.com
Could you please help me with solving this ?
Thanks in advance
nhk
Ah, the advantages of being the first person to try it. You get to find my mistakes. :-)
I tested this out in different timezones, but I obviously missed ones on the + side. D'oh.
I think I know the problem, and an easy fix. I'm just about to test it out and hopefully it will be that..and I'll have it up in a few.
Ok, I think this should do it.
I've updated the script on the setup page, so easiest thing to do is just recopy/paste the script section. No other steps need to be redone, just everything in Step 2 and reinput your correct timezone.
I believe this should fix it. Does in my testing. Lemme know if it works for you.
For anyone interested, I forgot to URI encode the timezone setting. It worked still as long as it was a minus sign, as they don't need encoding, but the plus signs do, so the script calls would fail. Should be ok now.
If this is the only thing someone finds wrong, I'll be very happy. :-)
So you are not that lazy after all. :D
I still would like to make a few changes.
Specifically, the list below the calendar shows all the post for a particular month. I would like it to show for particular dates. Some people would post so much per month that it will get crowded.
I just thought it would be great if you can let users customize which way they want it.
I did a quick test of the calendar in IE6.0 on XP SP2 and it worked perfectly.
One suggested improvement though (not sure if it is possible or not), when you view a prior months postings and then click on one of them to view, although the posting comes up OK, the calendar reverts to the current month (i.e. April 07). If viewing a historical posting then I'd have thought it more intuitive that the calendar remained showing all postings for the month that the posting was in.
Otherwise, great piece of work
Geoffrey
ups... sorry.... i didn't write where i got this script, and thanks anyway. now i write where i got this. And i have also blogrolled you in my blog too.... forgive me...
Hello.
As you said, it works (smile). It really make my day. It's great than I expected. It only needs to be beautified.
Thank you so much.
Regards
nhk
i saw some bugs in the calendar while i am see it on Opera browser... when the rows in the calendar is changed, i mean rows mean how much weeks in that month. when we click prev or next, and when the total week between the months is different, the calendar begin buggy.
the snapshots are here and here.
w00t! You've put it up phydeaux3! I've been waiting for it... :)
I'll try it out on my blog tonight and do a post about it. Yaay!
lotsa comments! :-)
@namhoon.kim
Glad that did it, I thought it would.
Also am seeing a slight formatting issue in Firefox on yours. I'm going to look into that. I think it may be related to what Anang is seeing in Opera. I think it's CSS formatting differences, will try to sort out the corrections for them when they pop up.
@deepak
I considered what you suggested, but it didn't make the final cut. I was loathe to split the functioning up like that. Maybe in the future.
@geoffrey
What you suggest is the one thing I wanted to add to it, but didn't. I agree that having the calendar open up related to which post is displaying is desirable. Will look into it.
@anang
It's all good. I edited my post not to complain about it now. :-)
@webweaver
I just hope you don't find any problems!! :-)
Hopefully any major issues left are CSS formatting ones.
Ok calendar freaks, I've done some looking at the few formatting issues that seem to pop up. I think I got some tweaks that seem to keep the calendar in shape in most situations that I tested it with. Note, trying to get something that will work with every browser/template combination is a bit of a nightmare, but these seem to do better. I've updated all the styles on the styles page to use these, so if you are seeing some slight issues, try the new ones.
Also, brand new. I've created a set of variables/css so you can use the Blogger Font/Color page to pick and choose your calendar look with the WYSIWYG editor. It requires one extra step setup, but I think it's worth it. Makes just about everything in the calendar available for easy styling. You'll find it on the Calendar
Styles page.
Thank you so much.. i was waiting for this for soooooo long...
yippeeee
thanks for posting this entry. the long awaited one. I should try this soon.
cheers
Hi phydeaux3!
I've tested it in Firefox, Opera, Netscape and Safari on the Mac. Only thing I can see is that the previous and next arrows aren't showing up in Safari or Netscape. I fixed it by changing the variables in your JavaScript to:
var bcArchiveNavPrev = '◄';
var bcArchiveNavNext = '►';
- in other words, you need the semi-colon after the number as well as after the variable. That makes the arrows show up just fine in all those browsers.
Not sure if that change is breaking anything in IE - my Virtual PC isn't playing very nicely today - maybe you can check for me.
I like your addition to include the ability to change the colours on the Blogger Font/Color page. Good for people who find CSS a bit of a mission! You might want to include some hover states for the links inside the calendar maybe?
One question: is there a good reason why your table with the next/prev arrows needs colspan="1" and colspan="5" on the table cells? Seeing as it's a new table and there's only one row - do you actually need these? Not that it really matters - it works just fine anyway...
So I've got my calendar in place and blog post done about it - great work as usual dude!
Kirk - brill, at last! Fab. I don't know how you find the time..
@webweaver
Thanks much for the browser report, and for the spot on the Next/Previous arrows. Big duh on my part, of course they should have the ending ;, I probably never would have caught my mistake. Funny that firefox, ie etc display it anyway. That has been fixed on the installation page now.
I took your advice and added a selection for the links hover to the font/color picker as well. I also rewrote the installation part of that. This is the first time I had ever setup those for people to use, and for some reason I was thinking that the variable setup HAD to be at the top with the other ones, which was a little tricky to explain. Finally realized it doesn't matter, I think they just need to be before the entries that use them, so it makes for an easier copy/paste than what I originally had. And for people that like to keep things tidy, they can move them if they want.
On the colspan, heh. You are very correct, those do absolutely nothing. I'm not even sure where those were introduced, if it came from the original table I started with, or if I stuck 'em in there somewhere along the way for some reason I can't remember now. I'm glad you noticed, they don't hurt anything but I don't like them there. They have been removed.
Thanks for all the great spots and suggestions. Very much appreciated. And for the kind words on your post, made my day.
@Imp
I don't find the time, that's why it took me 3 months to finally get around to putting this up!! :-)
Well, actually I was just being lazy.
Muaks!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Yay! You did it! I'll be trying it out this weekend!!! Yay!
Hi..
I have used this calender archive hack in 2 of my blogs PoetryBlog and Template Tips
This functions perfectly well in my poetry blog.. where as in my TemplateTips.. sometimes it works..sometime it doesnt.. caould you please check archivbe for atlest 5 months..and tell me what could be wrong..
In a test blog i tried out with js and css file links.. worked excellent..its just this blog i am not able to make it work
Thank you
Hi,,Sorry to be troubling you again..I kind of figured out as to why this is not working in my templateTips blog..
I use Smiley.js and
<body onload='document.body.innerHTML=myswap(document.body.innerHTML)'> in the blog to get the yahoo smileys..
May be some of the calender script charecters are clasing with the smiley script..
Can you help me with adding some fuction that will avoid this kind of clash...
I am so thankful for this calnder archive...Just cant say how much Deepa
@deepa
Yeah I was just taking a look, and just coming to the conclusion that some other script was interfering [insert smiley here]
And I believe thats the one. Most likely the cause is the smiley script is doing a replace on all the text in the body, and I remember seeing that problem with Aditya's original when you do a wide replace on elements that have event handlers added, etc.
I don't have a specific example to give you, as I'm just about off to bed. But if you can modify that call so instead of doing all the text in the body, target only the text in the posts, and it will probably work with both. I assume the smileys are always going to be in the post section. So if you target say the div with the id of #Blog1 (the blog widget) with the text/replace, it would probably leave the calendar section alone, and still work for the much desirable smileys.
If you are still having probs with it, lemme know and I'll see if I can come up with the exact syntax you need.
“I use Smiley.js and
<body onload='document.body.innerHTML=myswap(document.body.innerHTML)'&rt; in the blog to get the yahoo smileys..”
Wow! No no no that is ‘really’ not the way to do it! 8|
If you haven’t modified my script too much, I have programmed a way to call just specific DIVs in the DOM to emoticonify. DIVs with class set to ‘post–body’ are default targets, which usually are your post’s content. If your’s is different, see the instruction to add more classes in the original post.
Hope that helps?
Cheers!
Thanks Aditya,
I knew that wasn't correct, but was too tired to look up what was last night. :-) That should point Deepa in the right direction for the smiley.js stuff. It's definitely what is interfering with the calendar working.
Great job!
I appreciate your comment about my "clean code". That's definately something I usually struggle with, but am trying to get better at.
I also found it a little strange that with the JSON feeds you use the published-min/max, but with the search you use updated-max/min.
You can apply tooltips in title= "" to show the titles of posts in every day more express and better
http://web-graphics.com/mtarchive/001717.php
Great Job!
Thanks...it's work on me [broifsix.blogspot.com]
thanks Aditya..Phydeaux
That i learnt not to have anything in the body onload the hard way,,
thanks for the help..
will try to do the needful immeditely
Thanks friends.. now the calendar archive works great.. Thanks to you and Aditya..
@ phydeaux3: any problems with the calendar? mine looks very bad today. any idea?
Yeah, see Feeds on a Fritz
Temporary problem on the blogger side. They'll fix it soon enough. The calendar, and anything else that uses an affected feed will be inoperable until it's fixed by Blogger.
Hi..
I tired changing the
var timeOffset = "-00"
to suit the Indian time.. +05.30..
I noticed taht the calander archive is working perfect only for values from "-12" to "-01"
I tired givng +01.. its not working..Here i have used
var timeOffset = "+01"
Could you please check and let me know as to how to correct it
Do i have your permission
to publish this post in an indian regional language (TAMIL) ..and its important that the time zone is set to IST.
@deepa
Ok, several issues going on. The first problem people were seeing was related to the system wide problem with feeds that caused many things to break Feeds on a Fritz, but those have been mostly solved. But as you note, there is a lingering issue for just some people trying to use the calendar, and that is a problem still on the Blogger side with any timezone in the + UTC. I reported that to blogger, but haven't got a confirmation back yet. So right now, you'd have to set it to the closest - UTC setting to make it somewhat work, although some posts may be off.
But also, you point out another issue that I just never noticed in the setup, that some regions use :30 :45 etc in their UTC's while I have the calendar only setup to use :00, big oversight on my part. I shall correct the script and instructions to accommodate those as well. May be a day or two before I can get that correction up for those regions. Maybe quicker, it's easy enough to do, just have to make sure I don't make a mistake.
And yes Deepa, if you want to make a translation of this into Tamil, that's great. Let me know when it's done. All I ask is that you link back to this post, and try to keep the code somewhat together and readable if you republish it as well. What I may do to make it easier, is give the setup page targets to you can link directly to the different sections of the code if that makes it easier to provide a translation, without having to reproduce the code itself. So you may want to wait until I update everything.
So, one bit is still on Blogger's side to fix (+UTC timezones giving errors in the feeds), everything else I'll try to get fixed up soon.
First of all..
thank you for the permission..I shall surely back link to this post.
Since its a regional language post..in addition linking to your settings pages and styles page ,,I will have to manually wrtite the corresponding steps in tamil..not many are conversent in english...
This post will be made in a Tamil-technical support blog..which is hosted exclusivly for those who cannot gather information in english and use it
Yes.. I am very much willing to wait till the update is oput..As i have not yet announced this post,...i dont think anyone will even see tyhe delay..(bar a few fellow bloggers)
Just a passing thought.. i am not sure if this would be feasible
:::would it be possible to get the timezone of the blogger into a variable and then use it in the script:::
Hope blogger responds soon about the +UTC timezone..good luck
Hi.. I happen to get a valuable guidance from Anang..
He has used
var timeOffset = "%2B07";
to customise for +07
Works fine.. for now..
as you say.. blogger need to fix this
kudos to phydeaux3 for this wonderful script!
seems the calendar day starts from Sunday, if i wish to start from Monday, where in the script should i modify?
As for the +UTC timezones problem, it could be fixed by changing the plus sign (+) to %2B, however, even if the calendar could be shown with it, the calendar search still goes awry when you click on the calendar day when a post is submitted, it will show all the blogger posts instead of the particular post written that day.
BTW, i was wondering if you could write a script, it could convert blogger's "Links to this post" to "Trackbacks", which even shows the message the other bloggers link your post with, just like Wordpress does.
Sorry on the last few comments, I've been away from the blog for the past few days.
And yes, as per the last few comments, if you are in a +UTC timezone putting in the + as %2B does somewhat fix it, but also as Catherine notes it breaks any day selected.
There is no good fix, until Blogger corrects things on their end. The scripts are correctly encoding the urls (as evidenced by the fact it was working until last Thursday) but Blogger started doing things incorrectly in one instance.
Blogger is aware of the problem and looking into it. So in the meantime for those affected, if you want to use it you can pick whichever method you want, enter it in as above (which breaks every day selected) or change to a - UTC timezone (may make some days break-not find the right posts).
Hopefully Blogger will correct themselves sometime this week, if it seems like they may take longer then I'll bring out an alternate version that will work correctly.
@Catherine
You ask about modifying the calendar start date. I gave that some consideration as I know not everyone traditionally starts the week on the same day, but it complicates things. So it's not configurable in the calendar. I may look into it in the future.
I'm also not really sure I know what you want in regard to backlinks that backlinks don't already do...backlinks do show a snippet of the post. Unless I'm misunderstanding your request.
Thanks for your replay, phydeaux3.
In Blogger, "Links to this post" is like this:
"Title of the post in other blog"
"Title of the post in other blog"
But in Wordpress, "Trackbacks" is like this:
"1. Title of the post in other blog
2. Time that post tracked to your post
3. A snippet of message in other blog"
a fine example for this:
http://singpolyma.net/2007/01/asynchronous-peek-boo-comments/
(simply look at the bottom of the post)
i feel that "Trackbacks" is much more useful, and detailed than just "Links to this post", however, i don't know where to modify in blogger settings.
Well, backlinks do give pretty much all that, just formatted a bit differently, and by default you have to CLICK on the arrow to toggle open the extra stuff. But once you do, you get all the same information as you do via trackbacks.
If you wanted that information displayed by default, rather than having to toggle it open you can do it via a little creative CSS.
.backlink-toggle-zippy {
background: none !important;
}
.collapsed-backlink .collapseable {
display: block !important;
}
Which gets rid of the 'toggle' arrow, and opens up the backlink without further interaction. Maybe that's what you want?
I've done mine like that for the moment so you can see (look below, but look quick), but I'll take it off soon enough as I actually prefer it the default way. It makes for a rather long list when there are a lot of backlinks.
Before ya ask, someone could reorder the information (ie put the time posted above rather than below the snippets)...the defaults are hardcoded in the blogger backlinks script the way they are. But that would require a bit more work. :-)
Umm..I don't know what I was thinking on part of my last comment, when I said that the ordering of the information in backlinks was hardcoded. That's incorrect. It can be configured and changed in your template (the tags for it are a little tricky if you aren't used to them tho). I was on a holiday for a moment. :-)
Thanks, phydeaux3.
I did it with your instruction.
(Thanks for your exhibition, you could take it off since you have a lot of trackbacks.)
yep, it looks better if the time posted is put above the snippet.
As for the calendar start day, i'm looking forward to your configurable version as i wish it to start from Monday rather than Monday.
Well, I can't hide that this is truly a wonderful addition to my blog! Thank you! Please also visit my blog at www.dcrystal.blogspot.com, although its content doesn't seem to be of much importance to others... it is my journal actually.
Thanks again!
Hi Phydeaux3,
I have tried to use the put the calendar in my blog (on a Mac via Firefox). I did everything like in the How To but the result is a bit weird...
Can you please help me? I'm not really an expert..
I also wanted to ask you how you did create the customized comments bubbles.
Thanks
Hedi,
I assume you are talking about the calendar you have here
mac-design.blogspot.com/
What is it that you are seeing as weird? It seems to be functioning as it should from what I can tell. I'll definitely try to help, but will need a bit more description to what you are seeing.
As for the comment bubbles, well it's not rocket science, but not something I can explain quickly in comments. Maybe someday I'll make a post about it, as other people ask from time to time.
Hi.
I try it on my blog and finished in just now. It's very good. My blog get to be neat and tidy.
Thank you so much.
Hi phydeaux!
ive tried your calendar widget but it shows the titles of all the posts during the current month, that can take a lot of space on a sidebar if someone blogs on a daily basis, is there any way of disabling that? just show the calendar?
it seems you and purplemoggy never thought about that, Thanks
i'm also interested in your recent comments in your sidebar, it's so clean and tidy, do you have any email? can i contact you?
this is my email.
xiao.xcai@gmail.com
@Ricardo
Yes I had thought of it.
#calendarDisplay {display:none;}
Added to your CSS will keep the post titles from showing.
@xiao
I don't do email contacts from my blog. You can find many many versions of a recent comments scripts out there. Try http://hackosphere.blogspot.com
http://beautifulbeta.blogspot.com
Thanks Ramani!
Ramani???
I think Ramani is over there, http://hackosphere.blogspot.com
:-D
lol
Thanks Phydeaux
Hello, I found your calendar infos, and used them on my blog. I was looking for that for such a long time, this is a fantastic piece of work. Thanks Phydeaux ! I only have one problem with it, the scroll down menu does not show the years, only the months, and they are all in english, even though I applied all the suggested modifications to turn it into French. Could you please help me with this ? Here is my blog url:
http://fadial-blog.blogspot.com/
Hi again ! (http://fadial-blog.blogspot.com/)
I just posted a message about the format of the scrolldown menu for picking a month/year. I'm sorry about this because I found in your instructions the way to have the year . The remaining problem then is only the fact that the months are in English instead of French. Also, is there a way to highlight the current date ? My best, Isabelle
IM-
The issue with the month names showing in English in the drop down menu is actually a Blogger issue, and not the calendar script.
The calendar script does not modify that information in any way, it just displays exactly what Blogger outputs. I did it that way on purpose so that it would display in the language of your choice.
But over the past few weeks Blogger has had issues with archive languages...some english ones suddenly will revert to other languages, while non-english blogs are set in english with no way to change them. If you search through the help group, there are plenty of recent posts on the issue. You can verify its a blogger issues as when you edit the archive widget to show the months/year in your format, they should be in the language of the rest of your blog...if they are in English there, then Blogger is borked.
Best advice is to post at the help group and contact support, as it's Bloggers error.

Hi, i really like your hack. Blog archive calendar looks cool on my blog in firefox, but not good on safari. The characters other than English look wierd now.
This is my blog address:
http://caixiaoeva.blogspot.com
thx for your hacks 2 put calendar on my blog http://suketeki.blogspot.com
thx alot
i've choose it and thats great!!!
@http://caixiaoeva.blogspot.com
Sorry I've gotten a bit behind on replying to comments. On the non-english characters not appearing correctly in Safari, well I think I see what you are. I'm at a disadvantage as I don't have access to a Mac. But using an online screenshot generator I see the issue.
Will have to do some more investigating to see if I can find out the cause. Safari can sometimes be a pain.
Oh, real quick. For http://caixiaoeva.blogspot.com
The addSmiley script you have is killing the actual function of the calendar also, when it runs. See the comments from Me, Deepa, and Aditya at the beginning of this post.
I didn't see anywhere else to post a question about how you got your comment box. I love it and would like to know the code. If you wanna share it let me know via my blog so I know where to find it.
thanks!!!
Hello, my name is Andi Bagus, from surabaya - indonesia.. Wow..your tips is good work. I'm using it now..Trims a lot bro..
Dude your calendar RULES!!! You have my respect, a complete WebMaster! thanyou!!!
Great! Hey, Ive started a Spanish tutorial of this script on my forum; here's the link: http://daleclick.jconserv.net/viewtopic.php?p=160#160
I left a link to this blog at the right bottom of the topic. Thanks for the code!
hello and thanks for this wonderful widget.
i think I am the first romanian blogger who uses your archive calender.
http://floriansoica.blogspot.com/2007/07/arhiva-tip-calendar.html
Great calendar!
Question: is it possible to modify this so that instead of creating a calendar of PAST posts, you create a calendar of FUTURE events? I have been digging all over the web, and no one has done it for the new blogger. I don't know code well at all, but I would think it shouldn't be too hard to convert an archive calendar over...If I were to put some hidden code in my post that tells the event date (e.g. 20070704, for July 4, 2007), I could put a search function into the calendar. That way, multiple events on the same day would show up just as if I searched for them.
Anyway, great job, and any help from you would be greatly appreciated! (And you would be the first to pull this off on the new blogger!)
@florian
Yes, you very likely are the first Romanian Blogger to use it, least as far as I've seen. Glad it works for you.
@portland hobnob
Ummm.prolly not. This is strictly for your blog posts, as that is where the calendar gets it's data from.
If you want a calendar based off non-post events, probably would be best off using something like
http://calendar.google.com
They do have an option to embed a calendar of events/etc I believe.
Here is the help file on it.
There are a few other services, but damn if I can think of their names right now.
Your calendar is awesome. Thanks.
I only know basic HTML so i didn't go through the code but it works very well on my blog. I was unable to install the dark style though.
And thanks for the change in settings also. It is nice to be able to write the loading message in Hindi.
you answered my template troubles! this is a good hack and so easy to follow! I've been tinkering with CSS for my blog and I learned a lot from you post. Many thanks!
thanks for the hack.. i did it and it's working :D
Hello, Hay some possibility that they do not see posts underneath the calendar? Greetings
@J.C.Romo
The last option on the settings page
Calendar Settings
Keeps the titles from being shown underneath.
Thank you very much by the information. A greeting.
Would you be so kind as to spell out how to get rid of having all the titles show underneath.
I've only been blogging for a few months and as a newbie could sure use some baby steps and hand holding to understand your instructions.
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the calendar on my site. This is so fabulous!

hey. i'm here just to say thanks for these totally customizable codes (tag cloud and arquive calendar). they were exactly what i was looking for and they're working perfectly in my blog. thanks a lot. i've put a link to your blog in my "credits" list :)
I followed the instructions and I'm vary glad eith the results on my blog: http://nothingandall.blogspot.com
Unfortunately the posts of the first days of some months aren't dysplay in the calendar. I'm afraid that is related with the number of posts (> 100). Can you help how to overpass this? Many thanks.
Well. I changed a line of instruction and now the archive calendar works even the number of postas are greater than 100. I'm very happy. Thanks phydeaux. I put a public thankx to yiu on my blog. I wish you good luck from Portugal.
@looking4good
Well, I'm glad you found a workaround. But just to say I don't know if it will continue to work forever. Blogger has off/on throttled the results at 100 entries max, that wasn't my limitation. That's why I worked with that, and recommend that it not be used if you post more than 100 times in a month, Blogger may go back to limiting the results to 100.
Wow, you da man. Excellent.
you idea is good!! But, what if i wanna change the Blog Archive into something like this: Make it as a drop-down menu in the blog, and when i click it, i dont want the FlatList but Hierarchy style acrchive...
Please enlighten :)
Thanks!
@v!w!
I'm not even sure exactly what it is that you want, much less how to do it.
Hi – great calendar, just one thing... I'd like to remove the archive list underneath the calendar as it's not really applicable to what I need... but I can't work out which bits of code to delete
can you give me any pointers?
thanks in advance...
csquirrel-
The very last setting on the setting page tells you how to turn those off.
Settings Page
I especially like the style and color of your calendar. One thing that fascinates me is the button beside the list of archives.
I hope you won't mind if I will request you to share the codes.
Also, If you can advise what should I do to center my calendar.
I have zero knowledge on CSS JavaScript & HTML.
Hoping to hear from you soon.
Cheers!
Hi,
Made a post in my blog about this.
http://stitchestm.blogspot.com
Again, many thanks.
Thanks so much for this!
I'm 95% code illiterate so thank God all I really had to do was copy and paste. Looks great on the blog. Well, I think so anyway!
And I'm glad I didn't find it until now... from browsing through the comments, it looks like it gave you time to get all the bugs worked out! [insert smiley face here]
phydeaux3
I'm back again.
I love the calendar but seem to have one little problem. It never moved from Sept to October and I really don't know why. I blogged a post on Oct 1 and it shows up in the archived list undertneath but the calendar itself hasn't moved to October.
Can you help?
Thanks.
@MMC -
I must be missing something. You say you made a post on Oct1, but I sure don't see it.
The last post shown on your blog is
Legal Guardianship - The Process [Part II]
which is dated
Wednesday, September 26, 2007
So according to what I see, there aren't any posts in October. The calendar will jump to the next month as soon as the Blogger Archives recognize a post from that month, but as I see it now there isn't one.
Maybe I'm missing something...what post do you think is from Oct?
I just loved it.thanks a lot :)
Sorry phydeaux 3.
Whatever I thought I saw or didn't see, it started working fine a few days later.
But now I have another question for you. I love the calendar but have seen a drop in traffic recently. Could changing the archiving from weekly to monthly account for that? I am wondering if it is effecting search engine traffic.
Thanks. Sorry to be such a pain.
I just wanted to say how thankful I am for your calendar.
I'm not sure if anyone else has used it the way I did, but it's exactly what I needed.
I'm running a website now that consolidates nature activities (among other things) and wanted to do this instead on a web browser and on a blog (so that people can get feeds, other editors can add directly to the blog, we can tag, and many other advantages).
But both blogger and wordpress just didn't have the exact thing that you provided.
Here is the lovely new page all thanks to you.
http://wildsingaporehappenings.blogspot.com/
You can see how your calendar allows people to view what events are on for that particular day! I think it's just marvellous!
It replaces this really clunky webpage
http://www.wildsingapore.com/events/upcoming.htm
It is one of the three blogs I'm starting to replace part of the website. Sigh. I'm really bad at it, so this monstrous hybrid is the best I can come up with.
The 'mother site' is at
http://wildsingapore.wordpress.com/
The entire thing is still a work in progress. If all goes well, I'll launch it in January.
But I couldn't wait until then to thank you enough.
God bless you.
Hi phydeaux3,
thanks for your calendar it's a trully nice thing.
Only one thing: I don't know where to put #calendarDisplay {display:none;} ? I am not familiar with css :( Could you help me with it? my blog (in lithuanian): adembickas.blogspot.com
thanks for posting this entry.
I will introduce this post with my blog because it came to like it.
It becomes an explanation in Japanese.
It is only an easy part around the setup.
Please say if it doesn't like post of my blog. The post is deleted at once.
Hello I have huge problems getting my Blogger Archive Calendar to work with Explorer. I never use Explorer (hate the browser) but a lot of people use it and I have to pay them some respect. It works fine in Firefox,Opera and Safari.
Working towards students and staff members as a research librarian its important that things work proper.
I hope to get a quick answer back.
My blog address is:
http://ubitlibrary.blogspot.com
Take care and thanks for the lovely calendar,
Joost Hegle
@Joost
Hmm. Well the calendar should work in IE. I took a look but couldn't spot what the problem was on your blog.
I think it's either some other script interfering or maybe a CSS issue, but can't tell for sure. I'll try to take a deeper look this weekend when I have a bit more time.
Another reason why to thank you very much!
PurpleMoggy's calendar seems to be interesting but the striking out of dates when there isn't any post looks odd! Is there any way to eliminate the archive under the calendar(which you mentioned?
Still,it looks great!
@Joel
If you mean turning off the post titles underneath the calendar, you can find that on the settings page
Calendar Settings Page
Very last option. It's actually a CSS entry, but it will turn that off. I probably should have made that a setting with the rest of the javascript, but I tacked it on at the end after people requested it.
hey dude
first of all thanks for the great widget....
it was working fine on my earlier template very well...
but since i changed my template it is working but i can't apply any of the styles you have given....i added the style code but no use...
u can see that here
also just check in the image that for the cloud widget the list is coming flat even when i have kept is inline....i don't understand the reason for the same...
please help :)
You cut off one character when you copied the CSS over
input, textarea, select, button {
border: 1px solid #333333;
background-color: #333333;
color: #FFFFFF;
font-size: 11px;
padding-right: 2px;
padding-left: 2px;
} You are missing this line
/* Label Cloud Styles
It's missing the closing } for the section right above where the tag cloud CSS starts. Makes any of that CSS not render. That's the problem with the tag cloud, I presume it's the same issue for the calendar, but I don't see it installed now.
yeah.....its working now.....actually got tht b4 reading ur reply here :)
thank you very much :)
phydeaux3,
Thank you so much for this contribution. One thing i have in common with a lot of unanswered posts from above is where exactly to add the following:
'#calendarDisplay {display:none;}'
A lot of people found their way to the settings page but eventually get turned off because every step of the process is detailed up until that final entry into the CSS.
I as many others want a short calendar and would not want a whole bunch of post titles displaying beneath a neat calendar. It defeats the purpose of the calendar.
Can you please post detailed instructions on where to include that piece of code for the benefit of countless others, including me.
phydeaux3, thanks for the calendar. Sorry to bother you with this, but mine turns out weird even after following your instructions a few times over.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/
jj302/Illicit_Epistles/022.jpg
Link to picture of the said problem.
The calendar box isn't showing up on my blog, so what I've gotten so far, are the month header, and the days of the week, but not the dates.
If it helps, and is related in one way or another, I just got my blog up in the last seven days, with seven entries thus far.
Hope you can help me out with this problem. Thanks in advance.
@Phing Zhou,
I don't see it actually installed on your blog right now, so don't have an idea. The image only tells me that it ain't working. :-)
If you reinstall, and it still doesn't work, leave it and let me know and I'll see if I can spot the problem is.
Ah,I got it working now. It was working all along, I just didn't know that the it won't show up with the 'preview' function.
Sorry to trouble you with that. Thank you so much.
Hey phydeaux3,
Thanks for the insperation!.
I have a small blog so an archive calendar seemed to do the opposite of what i wanted. I played with the archive widget and came up with a carousel widget you can see here: http://nirlevy.blogspot.com/2007/12/blog-archive-carousel-widget.html. Your comments will be appricated.
(If you find this to be a shamless self-promotion, go ahead and moderate the comment :)
Hi~ Luv tis calender thingy! Brilliant!! I've been searchin for sooo long!! Thanks!!
Jus to check wit you.. why is it tat the links below my calender all short of 1 character? Keke.. If u can help, i'll be most glad! Nevertheless, Thanks again!! Reali appreciate ur works!! =)

Hi,
I love the calendar! The problem is that once I switched my blogger page to "invited can read only", the calendar stopped showing up. Restore the page to the public and the calendar comes back. Is there a way to make your calendar compatible with blogger's security?
@http://pawzitive.blogspot.com
Well, the reason the text is cut off is because of the way your template is setup, very odd that the top sidebar section is wrapped in an unordered list. Anyway, you can try adding this to the CSS (just add it anywhere with the CSS for the calendar section) and see if this works, it does in Firefox but not sure about IE.
ul#calendarUl li {text-indent:0px !important;}
@babe
No, as stated at the beginning of the instructions the calendar relies on feeds, and private blogs don't have feeds. So nothing I can do about it.
Hi received ur reply as below... I tried it out but it did the reversed instead.. from IE looks resolved but FF looks the same..

No, as stated at the beginning of the instructions the calendar relies on feeds, and private blogs don't have feeds. So nothing I can do about it.
But you could use the gdata API for javascript to authenticate and then access the private feed. If you would be willing to do that, your widget would be more widely used.
@2thyme
Well you can do that if you want. I won't even go into the reasons why it isn't appropiate/won't work. Even if it would work, is more trouble than I want to do just for private blogs.
But thanks for the suggestion.
This is a great widget. I wish I can put it on my blog since I have like 500 posts on it.
I really like blogger, but I think blogger really can't keep up woth wordpress great plugins, but people like you always find ways to make blogger just as great as wordpress. Keep it up.. cheers,
I dont know how much I can thank you! I was trying to do it ina difficult way and you gave a pretty easy solution to my problem!I simply love my calendar...the more i am confident about playing with the codes i'll get back to you with my problems...if at all anything arises!
Thanks for the calendar. It's great. But it seems like when I change the permissions to "Only People I Choose", the calendar stops working. The headers are still displayed, but the cells and the post titles are not. I changed back to Anybody, and it works again.
@anh vo
That is covered in the instructions, at the beginning. Private blogs don't have public feeds, so it will not work unless the blog is public.
Wonderful! Thank you so much for this code.
We tried several others before discovering your calendar. Yours was the only one that worked. Plus your instructions were easy to follow. We also like that you included code to customize the calendar - so it looks more integrated on each one of our blogs.
Thanks again - Cheers!

Hi..love the calendar widget but I am having trouble on where to put
#calendarDisplay {display:none;}
I want to remove the view archives from the blog under the calendar ! I dont know where in the editHTML section ?!
Thanks
Hello, me again .... could you help on where to place
#calendarDisplay {display:none;}
in CSS section ?
I am so confused? I have played in the edit section but I dont want to screw up what I have done already !
Thanks
@Mimi
I didn't publish one of your duplicate comments.
I've added more precise wording to the settings page on where to place that.
Easiest way to find the CSS section if you don't know is to find the ending ]]></b:skin> tag in your template, and paste the following line right BEFORE that tag.
Click
It duplicates what is written on the styles page on how to find the css section, but I suppose it should be there as well.
Hopefully that will help you out.
Phydeaux3..Thanks!
Sorry for the duplicate postings .
It is now just beautiful and I will be posting about the calendar with a link to your site in a few days .
Thanks again !!!
I love this calendar. I know very little scripting but I got it right the first time.

hey very nice work but i've got one question.
how do you remove the posts that are displayed below the calender? I just want the calender to be shown.
thanks,
DAVID
hey nice calender!
is there a way to reduce the font size of posts displayed at the bottom the calender?
thanks
HI phydeaux3,
Gr8 script bro...thanks a lot...we loved the archive calender..
Hi phydeaux3! Thanks for this great script.
Thing is I followed every step you did without mistake on my blogger but still when I did tried to preview it, my archieve still looks the same :(
Any chance you can help me out?
Thanks alot
Fantastic. I like it very much.
thanks a lot.
Hi Phydeaux3,
It works like a charm. I just followed your steps and never did I stumble at any point. I used the last of the styles you mentioned "Blogger Font/Color Selector" and it seems it was just made for my template :) Thanks a lot for this hack. I really love this.
http://mairembam.blogspot.com
I was also wondering if you have a widget to list all the post titles for a particular label. For example, if I have 100 posts with a particular label, when I click on the label, it shows all the 100 posts. I would like to have all the 100 post titles to be listed under the label in the sidebar so that users can navigate themselves to the post they want rather than clicking the "older posts" link at the bottom of the page.
It would be so nice if you could come up with such a widget.
Thanks a ton again!
Mairembam
Hi, Thank you so much for your calendar. I have it on my www.bestoftrendy.com site and I gave you credit and a link.
Hi,
I took the trouble of reading all the comments here, the settings page and everything I could imagine, but I still have some troubles with the archive calendar ^^
So, I added it on my blog http://sandervdm.blogspot.com a few weeks ago and added it again in my new template I installed yesterday. Great, it works! However, I want the post titles hidden. I added the line to hide them in my template right before the b:skin tag, but it doesn't work: the post titles are still visible. Could you help me out?
Cheers
@sander vdm
I took a look, and the calendar isn't fully installed from what I see (I assume your trying things out), but from the bits installed it's probably this. You have incorrect comment code in the css section, where the line was added that makes the titles disappear.
(NOTE - I'm turning the open/close brackets into [] here because they are easier to display in the comments)
You have
[!-- Einde label cloud --]
[!-- Begin toon geen posttitels kalender --]
#calendarDisplay {display:none;}
Those are correct for html comments. But CSS comments are different. It should be
/* this is a comment */
The two incorrect lines are causing the css statement after them not to be read. Most likely.
Multumesc!
Hi Phydeaux3,
Thank you so much for your calendar.
This update is really useful for me. But there is a little problem. Some days even if there is a message, it appears to be empty. Where am I doing a mistake.. Do you have any idea about this?
http://mcmasterr.blogspot.com/
Thanks for your replay,
thanks for this ! I just installed it and its working great!
This is the widget that I'm looking for, thank you very much.
But I just want to show the calendar without link of my posts at the bottom.
Please, please help me many thankz.
hye.. thanx for the great widget..
but mine seems to have a little bit problem, can u plz check it out at my blog http://jacksterisme.blogspot.com and tell me if u know what's wrong.. thanx =)
oh forgot to mention, the problem is, below the calendar, the hover box for the post seems to be a little bit larger than it should
Thanks! I'm really happy with the Archive Calendar at MMA Ratings where I post about events.
Is there anyway to modify the default month to be the current month instead of the month with the latest post?
On MMA Ratings I typically date posts with the date that events will occur so I have future dated posts.
Also, it would be great if there was a way to +/- the archive items?
Hi Pyhdeux3,
I've just followed your instructions on instaling the calender and something doesn't seen right. I'm getting a calendar but there is no box around it. Would you know where I've gone wrong?
Thanks for this.
Hi,
Thanks for sharing this, love it!! However, when I clicked on the post in the archive list, the link shows something like (http://blogtitle.blogspot.com/feeds/1152574669549016229/comments/default) instead of (http://blogtitle.blogspot.com/2008/08/post-title.html) which couldn't link me directly to the post that I wanted to.
Anything I have installed wrongly? Please help and my blog is http://agnes-luvofmylife.blogspot.com/.
Thanks!!
Hey Agnes -
The good news is you did nothing wrong. It's installed correctly.
The bad news is Blogger has changed something on their end causing it. Grrrr. If you check my calendar it's suffering the same fate. Blogger must have changed it very recently, like either today or late last week.
I know what's changed. I know how to fix it. But I don't relish the task of getting everyone who has installed this to make the changes.
So sit tight for a few days, I'm going to put a request into Blogger to see if there is any chance of them changing things or their end back to the way it was. If not, then I'll have to update the calendar script so it will work with the changes.
Hey! For a strange reason the calendar doesn't show the posts anymore. There are links to the comments feed. I have been using this calendar for a while.. :-S
Could you help me? You have the same problem...
Ok Agnes or anyone else that might be seeing the problem. If you want to know in general what cause the issue, I briefly explain it here
If you want to fix it, I've outlined it here
Basically you just have to recopy the script portion from step#2. Sorry for the problem.
Oh MAN thank you!!! I love the calendar... and what I thought was even more amazing was the fact that it converted the colors automatically.. maybe cuz i had already configured my blog to do so (who knows.. i don't really know css)
QUESTION: TOO MANY archive links show up under it...I have to push "view archives" and then it minimizes it to four.. can I have it display the four first instead??
oh here's my blog.. so you can see it.
www.thednalife.com
You make tough things look so simple... thank u loads...
i have so many posts in a month, is there a way i can have the post titles hidden until a date is clicked on the calendar?
i also use labels, so combined with the calendar, the sidebar is really long.
take a look if you like

Hiding the Titles

Another wonderful hack.
Thanks so much!

Great hack!
Thanks for sharing it :-)
I was also wondering if you might ever have considered to create alternate versions of it? Something along the lines of a "latest posts archive calendar"?
Which would display a set-able amount of days, or x number of posts if their were none, beneath the calendar. Making the calendar display the posts of that day underneath it instead of showing those posts when a day is clicked.
Cheers man, I love it! Thanks a lot for doing what I've never found the energy to do.
At least someone who explained exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Hi phydeaux3,
Me too, having problem with the previous and next arrows. Not showing up in IE at all. Please advise.
Merry Xmas!
Hi phydeaux3,
Me too, having problem with the previous and next arrows. Not showing up in IE at all. Please advise.
Merry Xmas!
Damn. I really love this calendar archive and I've been using it for over a year on my blog. However, I recently changed my layout and the calendar seems to have stopped working. I've tried reistalling it several times, but the calendar itself doesn't show up and the arrows aren't working properly either. Is it happening just to me?
I have so many posts in a month, is there a way i can have the post titles hidden until a date is clicked on the calendar?
Your reply:
Hiding the Titles
Above is the link to the instructions on hiding the post titles.
*******************************************
Hi phydeaux3,
As the above given link earlier, I did try to find the related tips to hide the post title, but I cant find which one. Could you pls advise further?
Thanks!
Sorry phydeaux3,
Kindly do not publish my earlier query post since I already found it.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks again for the step-by-step setup.
It looks nice now :)
Is there a way to hide the archives list below the calendar?
I've found it in the configuartion settings page, thx so much. This is a great widget.
Hi phydeaux3,
Love this calendar. Applied it to my site. One question though: is there a way to hide the links below the calendar? Or can it be shortened? In months with a lot of posts this list can become very long...
Thanks!
Schmitzl
Phydeaux3,
You have too many comments :-). Found the solution to my earlier questions.
Thanks.

Nice article..thanks.I will bookmark this blogsite
Had same question as Schmitzl, I still have links showing up under the calendar... how could I remove them ?

Hi,
Thanks for the cute calender.
It was very easy to install and it looks great in my blog.
Thank you once again.
I didn't see a response to "Stitcher" (back in 2007) as far as where to place the code to center the calendar in the sidebar. I'm an html idiot so your help is appreciated.
By the way - I love this calendar!
Hi,
I'm having problem with calendar ever since I've made my blog "private". I managed to see the calendar frame but not the posts in it. Furthermore, the "loading" is in progress all time so I 'suspect' it's something to do with my new setting (change frm open to invited blog).
I really wish to continue using the calendar and please help!!
Thanks.
@agnes
As noted in the instructions, private blogs don't have feeds so they are not supported. Nothing I can do about it. Sorry.
@The Laughing Idiot
If you install the code for one of the styles from THIS PAGE you'll find the calendar more centered and better looking.
There is a plain style if you don't want different colors. And the instructions are there - same as adding styles for the label cloud which you have done successfully.
Well... I have some customers that think a calendar is nice... so... the customer always is right.
Phydeaux,
I got a problem I can't seem to find in the comments. If you select a date in the calendar, the links behind the next/prev arrows are incorrect in most cases. For example, the previous button would disappear and the next button would link to the homepage (even though there are newer posts). This problem can be seen on www.muziekvragen.nl (in Dutch Next="volgende", Previous="vorige" Home="Laatste").
It seems like the links that are created in the calendar don't work well with the link "calculation" of the next/prev buttons. Any ideas? Thank you very much.
Schmitzl
@Schmitzl -
Hmm. Well I checked your blog and it seems to be working as it should there.
Maybe there is a difference on how you are thinking it might work. I can't tell exactly from your question but see if this makes sense.
The Prev/Next links will ALWAYS only be pointing to an archive (months worth of posts) and they aren't connected to if you select a particular post from a day. In other words it doesn't next/prev through (individual) posts starting from one that's selected, but rather will always be next/previous through the archive list.
If that makes sense.
If it doesn't then try me again , but the way it's working now on your blog is exactly the way it's supposed to from what I see.
Thanks for your reply phydeaux3.
Your point makes sense: I understand what you mean. Still there seems something strange going on. If I select a day (which in my case is the same as a post as I post once a day) from the calendar, the url is something like this, created by the cell.innerHTML. In pages like these, the next/prev don't work correctly. The Previous (vorige) has a link that will give max=20 results (while I set my blog to 1 post per page). The Next (volgende) gives a link to "home". If I view the same page on the post page itself (in this case http://www.muziekvragen.nl/2009/04/popvraag-012-beroemde-toetsen.html), the next/prev works correctly. So it still seems to have something to do with the exact post page you're on before clicking the next/prev.
I thought maybe the blog gets confused by the update time of a post vs. the posting date (I tend to update my posts every now and then)
Any ideas? Thanks for your time and thoughts.
Schmitzl
@Schmitzl -
Ok, I think I see what you are talking about now. You mean the older/newer links that are beneath the posts itself (if I understand you correctly), I thought originally you meant the previous/next links at the bottom of the calendar itself.
And actually I have known about what you are referring to - but it's been so long since I thought about it had slipped my mind.
Ok, really the problem here is Blogger itself rather than the calendar. Lemme explain.
For the calendar to be able to show a days worth of posts (which could be any number depending on how often you post) it uses a search method to show all the posts for that day.
But you are right, when that is done the older/newer links that Blogger creates aren't exactly what you'd expect them to be. This is a Blogger issue. The links the calendar creates are valid and correct ones, it's just the Blogger doesn't handle the older/newer links correctly in that case.
There are several other similar situations where Blogger doesn't generate those links correctly too.
So there isn't much I can do about it. Maybe one day Blogger will correct this niggle on their end, but I wouldn't hold my breath. It's been like that since they moved to the new Blogger platform.
I will say that I realized this way back when I first did the calendar (wow I just realized it was two years ago) but to show how often users may notice - you are the first one to say anything about it in all this time.
So in a nutshell - it's really a Blogger issue.
And hopefully 99.9% of users won't/don't uses those links and will never notice.
Hope that helps.
phydeaux,
Thanks again for your reply and sorry I wasn't specific enough in specifying which next/prev I meant.
By experimenting I found something that could fix it for my case (being the fact that I only show one post on a page and I post once a day). If I add "&max-results=1" to the url that is created by your calendar, the next/prev arrows below the post work (in my case resulting in linking to the post of the next/prev day). Don't ask me why but it works.
I order to make it work I added this to the code you provided on this page. Is that OK with you?
Regards,
Schmitzl
@Schmitz -
No problem. Just glad we finally got on the same page. And of course you can add anything you want to it.
Weird that Blogger makes the links correctly if you limit it to one entry (I hadn't known that). Wish they would make it work correctly otherwise. Oh well.
hello! because I see the schedule down the list of all posts?
Hi, really very useful and very well done. You should set up a Paypal account for people who want to give you a little something as a thank you gesture! :)

Hey, I loved the calendar!!! Got one for my blog
BUT... i dont have the year on mine? Wonder why??
Do you know?
@Dark Angel -
You don't have the year because you have the archive settings wrong. You have it set to "daily" - you need to change the archive widgets settings to "monthly" then select the format you want it to display as.
Phydeaux3,
First, you wowed be by how fast you responded. thank you so very much!
it now shows the year, thanks!!!
Very useful tip to hack blogger design.let me try to my blog.
Thanks
Hi,
I tried putting up this archive calendar widget. It worked...but the scroll down bar only showed the month and not the year.
--> June (12)
It appeared in the month of June, there are 12 posts...but didn't show the year. How do I correct it?
Thanks - installed in seconds.
A great addition to any blog.

On July 31, 2007 I included this great blogger archive in my blog New Blogger Archive. It works from them until now very fine thanks to phydeaux. However I would like to not show any links below the calendar (they actually opens a windows for the comments and not to the original post). Can you help me about what i need to change? (my knowledge about html is weak ..lol..). Hoping your help.. Best regards from Portugal :)
I already overpassed the situation followinh your comments about this same question put by other bloggers. Thank you again. You did (you do!) a great job!
I like this article, and I have successfully used it
hi, thanks for the post.

can i remove archive details?
i mean, if i wrote pots over 20 in a month, then the tiles of the posts are below the view archive. i want to show just calendar and remove this 'view archive'
can you help me!!?
it help me graet, thanks phydeaux3
Hey
sorry to bother you but I wanted actually too delete the view archive and the links under it but I can't find how to do this.
Is there a way how to do this or maybe how to reduce the links that are posted under the calender, cause if I post 1 article per day at the end of the month I will have 30 links under the calender that's to much wasted place I find.
Thanks in advance and thanks for the calender
Here is my blog

Sorry for the question that I posted I hadn't seen and understand that you had already solved this problem
Thanks a lot
ok so I'm trying to get the archive dates to have an image li on them but can't seem to figure out how to change the li css to make it work )O: Can you help me out? Thanks and LOVE the calendar!!
Thanks for this Blogger Archive Calendar.
It's great widget.
Thank You.
Thank you very much!
For me it was really helpful, because I have a lot of posts per month, and if I choose any month Blogger shows all 50-100 posts on one page - it's uncomfortable and takes a lot of space (I asked Blogger support how to make that the archive would be displayed not completely, for example 10 messages per page, but nobody knows... may be you know?..). Hierarchy and weekly archive frequency don't look good too..
So, your calendar is the best variant. Now everybody can choose certain month and day and view only a few photos.
You are genious!
Thank you ^-^
I have been wanting to do something like this for a while, and I finally did it, and it worked great. Keep it up.
Thank you sooo much. I've been looking for a blog calendar for so long. This is a great work!
I have a suggestion. When I change the month in the combo box, I would probably like to read 2 or 3 posts from that month. But then I click on the number link for one day, and the calendar changes to the current month. Would there be any way to keep it always on the month I've chosen?
Thanks again!

Hi Phydeaux 3
I 'm french ( so my translation is not very well)
is it possible to have a calendar which publishes only the posts of ONE year ( and not those of all teh blog)??
Thank's
@ Phydeaux3,
first of all.. i would like to say thank you .. there are other sites that have instructions but ask for donations before helping ..
so i would like to commend you for such great work and posting detailed step-by-step instructions for free :)
With that said.. i have a problem:
I added "#calendarDisplay {display:none;}" so the links are not displayed underneath the calendar ..
It works perfectly in Opera Web Browser..
However, in Internet Explorer.. it does not work?
Could you help me to figure out a way to fix this? so the text is not displayed underneath the calendar in all browsers?

Thank You Very Much !
@Loopmasters -
You are using incorrect commenting symbols around that bit, causing some browsers to choke on it.
You have this part (I AM LEAVING OUT THE OPENING CLOSING BRACKETS BECAUSE THEY DON'T DISPLAY WELL IN COMMENTS BUT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET THE IDEA)
!-- end of pydeaux's coding for styling to connect to bloggers --
!-- This code is to disable the Archive Listing underneath --
That is incorrect commenting for a CSS section (it is correct for HTML - it can be confusing). So that should be
/* end of pydeaux's coding for styling to connect to bloggers */
/* This code is to disable the Archive Listing underneath */
I think that will solve your problems. Since those bits are before the calendarDisplay directive and are incorrect - it causes some browsers to choke on it. You got some other ones like that inside the stylesheet section that should probably be corrected also, but they aren't causing a the problem.
Thanks for the kind words.
Sorry if I've missed other folks questions. Been busy.
